I am a native Italian/English speaker (bilingual from birth), raised in Italy and currently living in London, but I have also lived in Glasgow, Madrid and Paris on and off in the past 12 years. I have lectured at a number of London universities and currently work as a language teacher as well as an academic translator, and I have a special interest in the arts and in popular culture. I am traveller and a keen student of languages myself, and I see myself as a dedicated, committed, imaginative and rigorous teacher.
I am a qualified (2005) language teacher with 10+ years' experience, and I have taught languages in the UK, Italy, France and Spain at all levels. I have had business clients, students learning for academic purposes, complete beginners and people interested in conversation about literature or philosophy. In other words, I'll be more than happy to tailor the content of our classes to your needs and interests! Please get in touch with me letting me know what you're after and we can discuss options together. I am currently tutoring a number of adults and young learners in English as a Foreign Language, Italian, French and Spanish. I teach small groups and one-on-one clients in public spaces, at their homes/offices, or over at mine in South East London.
New word: new world. I love teaching languages (and studying them) because it's much more than teaching a subject: it's teaching a culture, a form of logic, a way of thinking, the history of a people, an entire worldview. There are no limits to studying a language and to a language suiting one's interests, and in my classes I try to communicate this to my students. My classes are suited to my students' needs: I'm very passionate about grammar, but I'm also perfectly at ease with conversation classes.
