If you are worried about the leap from KS3 to KS4, from GCSE to A level or did not get the results you hoped for in your mock exams then the solution might be some extra support from a very experienced teacher, tutor and senior examiner.
Why? Because dedicated time, just for you, will boost your confidence, enhance your knowledge and refine your exam skills. A Level Tutees this year all achieved A & B grades, most at least one grade higher than predicted. GCSE all 5 and above.
I am a fully qualified teacher, GCSE and A level senior examiner. I have a degree in English, Theatre and History and teach GCSE and A level students at present.
I have a Masters Degree in Shakespeare and Education.
I usually suggest a free 1/2 hour introductory session with the student and the parents. However if exams are looming sometimes it is best to just get straight into the tutoring sessions.
I have a small dog and three cats who are very welcoming to visitors.
I have taught GCSE and A level for the past 20 years both in the maintained sector and independent schools including candidates for common entrance. I have tutored successfully for the past 16 years. I am fully conversant with the requirements for all the exam boards and have been a senior examiner for 15 years.
I have also worked as a Drama and English teacher with Home Educated students.
I have been involved with "intervention" work. Ensuring that borderline D/C and B/A students achieve their potential.
I have recently completed a course updating myself on the requirements for the new examinations.
Please note I do not tutor below year 10 unless the student is taking GCSE English early.
I feel that students benefit enormously from one to one sessions where we are able to focus directly on their individual needs. I endeavour to make the sessions relaxed and focused. My examiner knowledge enables me to focus the students sessions on refining their skills to enable them to achieve the highest marks. Students are always surprised about the amount of work we get done in one session.
I prefer to tutor in my own home in a designated space as I have all my resources here but may consider travelling for an extra fee. I like to ensure that the student feels that they can come knowing that they can work on anything they need to, not just what we have discussed the previous session. Having the student working with me in my study ensures that I can access any relevant resources immediately and without distractions.

She has actually interested my 15yr old son in English and poems.
He will get a good grade in his GCSE's now. We are very grateful to First Tutors for listing Fiona, and even more grateful to Fiona for her very tailored tutoring of my son.
Fiona is a good communicator and very flexible in approach and delivery of content.
She is also more up to date than my sons teachers at school.
