I am a British native speaking teacher with eight years experience in teaching English, Cambridge CELTA qualified with distinction. I began teaching English in a private academy in Spain and then moved on to open my own school in Romania. Learning Spanish and then Romanian was an eye opening experience as a teacher and helped me to understand the difficulties of learning a language first-hand.
I also have an MA in Ancient History with Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh. I offer tutoring in History and Classics from beginner to A-level. My teaching is a blend of bringing the subject alive and practical work to help you train in understanding sourcing and theoretical issues.
I taught in a small private academy in Spain as my first teaching job. Here I taught mostly younger learners in groups and evening classes for adult students. I also taught exam preparation courses for clients hoping to sit the IELTS and Cambridge exams. In preparation for this I attended the Cambridge CELTA course for teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Prior to becoming a teacher I worked as an archaeologist and trained in conservation and artefact interpretation.
My approach is tailored to the student and how and what they want to learn. Interaction and conversation are very important when you are learning a language and so there will be lots of discussion, role plays and games in my classes.
