Exeter University linguist, historian and Russophile currently in the fourth year of my degree.
It was while tutoring my younger brother for Latin at Common Entrance (he got an A!) that I discovered my passion for teaching; a passion that has only grown since then.
I am a specialist in languages, both modern and ancient, fluent in Russian and proficient in Brazilian Portuguese, French and Latin.
My second area of specialty is history. During my time at university my focus has very much been Modern History (especially German, Russian and Middle Eastern) and I am in an ideal place to teach history at Secondary/GCSE level , with additional insights gained from first hand research at University Level.
Whether it be the most perplexing of theological conundrums or the most potent ethical questions of the current day, Religious Studies is the medium for the discussion of the most vital of all the big questions. Indeed I believe my unique multidisciplinary position has provided invaluable insights into my tutoring approach for Religious Studies and by conveying my enthusiasm for the subject, those wishing to progress will benefit not only through success in examinations, but also through a renewed vigour for the discipline.
-University of Cambridge accredited English as a Foreign Language Teacher (CELTA)
- 4 years Freelance EFL tuition (Skype and in person)
- International experience of EFL (Brazil, Jordan, Russia)
- Actively involved in peer learning programs at University (Russian and History)
- Academic Proofreading services for theses and dissertations (with subjects ranging from Linguistics in Irish English to the mechanics of Cranes).
A student-centered approach is at the heart of my teaching philosophy: combined with clear goals, strong rapport and a relaxed learning environment. Research shows that 1:1 tuition provides the most conducive atmosphere for engagement with the subject and successful outcomes in external examinations, proving an ideal choice for anyone wishing to make significant strides in the subject with a limited time frame.
