Hi! I'm Fliss.
I'm a qualified accountant (AAT & ACCA) and have worked with numbers my whole career, helping businesses run more efficiently and borrow the money they need. I also have an MBA, and achieved A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. That aside, I'm a SCUBA diver, keen cook and ride a very fast motorbike, so I'm not a 'typical' accountant.
I have enjoyed helping other people understand things since I can remember, with four younger siblings needing help with homework, but I first really noticed it while I was doing my A-Levels and many of my free periods were spent translating Maths lessons for my friends who hadn't quite got it during the class. It was really great to see how pleased they were when they got their good results and know that maybe I had helped, even if just a little.
Since then, I've helped coach, train and mentor colleagues and client staff through my 20 years in the business world as well as still helping my youngest sisters every now and then...
I'm also a volunteer with the Sea Cadets and spend much of my spare time teaching young people, with a wide range of abilities, aged 10 to 17 a variety of things from the history of the Royal Navy, to how to tie a bowline and general boatwork skills.
I am happy to fit my tutoring around you, what you need to learn and how you learn best. During our first session, we will take a look at what your aims are and what it is you want to get out of our sessions, making sure that I know your strengths and where the sticking points are that we need to spend more time on. We can plan an intensive course of sessions to deal with a specific issue as and when needed, or stick to a more general programme.
We will be working, but I hope to make the sessions enjoyable, rewarding and fun at the same time.
At the end of the day, it's about you, and giving you the skills you need to move to the next step in your life journey.
