I tutor part time while I work part time as a medical doctor. I have previous experience working with children as a qualified gymnastics coach, hockey coach, a support worker and more recently as a paediatric doctor. I am fully CRB checked and have been tutoring privately for children aged between nine and seventeen throughout my medical degree and since. I am also experienced in tutoring adults in both small bedside practical teaching sessions as a medic, lecturing large groups of students and giving presentations on research and case studies to fellow doctors.
I have taught a range of different subjects to both adults and children for over fifteen years. As well as formally tutoring children to help with their school exams, I have also tutored and lectured university students in biology during my first degree and medicine during my second degree. These experiences have given me lots of different techniques to learn how to explain difficult concepts clearly and thoroughly. I am a responsible tutor who will happily explain things thoroughly and carefully using a multitude of different mediums.
In the first few sessions I will be making an assessment of the tutees strengths and areas that can be improved. It is important to remain positive when tutoring and to encourage curiosity. I try to find a balance between pushing my tutees to excel, encouraging them to enjoy lessons and reinforcing previously studied knowledge.
