I have been tutoring Maths since 2004, specialising in exam preparation for higher-tier GCSE and A-level. With an Honours degree in Mathematics and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, I am very familiar with the exam material and specifications, but more importantly know how to communicate skills and concepts, and build up students' confidence.
At GCSE I have taught all three main exam boards as well as IGCSE and the AQA Further Maths syllabus, and I am very familiar with all the higher tier material including the new GCSE. Over the years I have had consistent success in getting students to achieve their target grade or better, especially with those students aiming for the highest grades.
I have a comprehensive knowledge of all the A-level Maths content (Pure, Statistics, Mechanics) including the new A-level. I have been teaching the new AS in 2017-18 and have students going into Year 13 who are taking the full A-level in 2019. As well as the new content, the questions are often more challenging than the previous A-level and require a thorough understanding of the topics.
I enjoy teaching motivated students to achieve their best and am very proud when they gain the grades they wanted. I firmly believe that anyone can learn Maths if they are taught properly and are prepared to work hard and do lots of regular practice. Every topic builds on previous topics so I am always ready to go back until we find a firm base to build from, explaining each concept and technique in a way that’s easy to understand. We also start to work on exam questions as soon as possible, by far the best preparation!
