Personal Description:

I am an M.Phil Philosophy candidate/researcher at the University of Cambridge, where I read for the M.Phil at Darwin College, Cambridge. My studying for this degree is generously funded in part by a Darwin Philosophy Studentship.

I have recently taken the M.Litt Philosophy degree at the University of St. Andrews, on the University of St. Andrews/University of Stirling Philosophy Graduate Programme (SASP), for which I was awarded a Distinction (and a Distinction of 19.5/20.0 in my Dissertation). My study for the M.Litt. Philosophy, on the SASP, was funded by a competitively awarded full-tuition scholarship in the form of a Philosophical Quarterly Bursary.

Prior to my graduate studies, I was educated at St. Edwards School, Oxford, and I completed a BA (Hons) Philosophy degree at the University of Reading, with First Class Honours. Additionally, at the University of Reading I was awarded the Philosophy Department Prize for highest overall marks achieved by a final-year Philosophy student, the Chancellor's Award for academic excellence, and the Laurie Brain Book Prize for the highest overall marks achieved by a second-year Philosophy student. My undergraduate dissertation was awarded a Distinction (85%), and the dissertation achieved the highest mark awarded to an undergraduate philosophy dissertation at the University of Reading in the 2014/15 academic year.

Amongst my other GCSEs and A-Levels, I have a Philosophy A-Level at grade A (on the AQA Philosophy A-Level syllabus) from St. Edward's School, Oxford. I was awarded both the Upper-Sixth Form Philosophy Academic Prize (in 2011/12) and the Lower-Sixth Form Philosophy Academic Prize (in 2010/11) for being the best performing Philosophy A-Level student in each respective year at St. Edward's School, Oxford.

Finally, I am the President of the British Postgraduate Philosophy Association and the Postgraduate Representative on the Executive Committee of the British Philosophical Association. I am, also, the former President of the British Undergraduate Philosophy Society, and the former President of the University of Reading Philosophy Society (the latter role in which I served two terms, after being re-elected at the end of my first term).

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching all of the subjects I offer private tutoring in, at a range of different levels of study.

In particular, I have extensive experience in teaching and tutoring philosophy at different levels of study, which I have gained throughout my academic career to date.

This experience includes:

1) Founding and running the University of Reading Student-to-Student Essay and Module Advice seminar (called 'Philosophy & Biscuits', for which I also created the University of Reading Philosophy Society Essay Advice document which is handed out at the meetings of this seminar).

2) Running revision sessions for both the AQA Philosophy A-Level syllabus (especially the modules 'Epistemology and Metaphysics' and 'Philosophy of Mind') and the OCR Philosophy and Ethics A-Level syllabus.

3) Providing one-to-one essay advice consultation sessions for the 'Human Nature' module offered at the Undergraduate level in Philosophy, at the University of Reading.

4) Providing informal teaching of Philosophy and Critical Thinking at both the Undergraduate and A-Level levels of study, as well as informal teaching in both propositional and predicate logic.

The above experience, amongst other experience I have acquired, has equipped me with the ability to provide quality private tutoring in Philosophy (and Critical Thinking), at both Undergraduate and A-Level levels of study. This tutoring would include, amongst other things, the provision of essay advice, exam preparation aid, and help in gaining philosophical material comprehension.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide specific-to-student tailored tutoring in Philosophy, Logic, and Critical Thinking to help tutees overcome the unique difficulties that can arise when studying these disciplines. As a tutor, I offer (amongst other things) in-depth essay advice, aid in exam preparation, and student-specific aid in material comprehension in Philosophy, Logic, and Critical Thinking. I also provide tutoring in propositional and predicate logic (including training in associated issues, such as the identification of formal and informal fallacies of reasoning).

In addition to the above, I offer tutoring (with the same aims and method described) in History, Government & Politics, English Language and Literature, and English as a Foreign Language (all at GCSE and A-Level). Finally, I offer aid and advice with all stages of UCAS applications - such as Personal Statement writing and proofreading, which I have aided applicants with who have secured offers from prestigious, leading universities such as Kings College London, the London School of Economics, the School of Oriental and African Studies, and the University of St. Andrews.
