Personal Description:

In July 2013 I graduated Cardiff University with a First Class Honours degree in Religious Studies and Theology. My degree included a range of modules that focused on subjects such as matters of faith, philosophy, ethics, history and argumentation.

My A-Level and degree experience has had a heavy focus on essay writing meaning that I have become skilful in extended writing and would be happy to transfer these skills.

My areas of strength are in Religious Studies, English and Philosophy. I have read a large number of the books on both the GCSE and A-Level English Literature syllabus and would make a point of reading any books that my students are studying before we begin tuition.

As I continue my studies I hope to establish myself in the local area as a reliable and effective tutor.

Tutoring Experience:

From 2008-2010 I acted as a Reading Mentor to Secondary School students who struggled with literacy and organised study groups and educational trips throughout my A-Levels and degree.

I have undertaken classroom observation and conversed with education professionals which has giving me an insight into the learning environment.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style would involve an informal approach with focus on discussion in order to help students reach their own educated conclusions that can be easily remembered. My initial aim would be to determine what my students already know in order to build upon this knowledge and note down objectives that we would aim to achieve by the end of each session. Every student is different and I would take into account individual's strengths and weaknesses in order to help them reach their potential.

I have constantly been I education for 16 years and am still continuing my studies. I took my GCSEs 5 years ago and my A-Levels 3 years ago meaning that I still have a fresh understanding of what these exams entail and what is expected of the students who take them.

Flexibility and the ability to relate are two of the key factors I would bring to any tutoring role as an understanding of the issues that students face in their present teaching would enable me to tackle these problems.
