Personal Description:

Described by The Times as "an outstanding musician", and Gramophone as "a charismatic pianist," Russian virtuoso pianist, composer and educator GéNIA has a wide ranging repertoire, embracing classical music, contemporary works and multimedia projects.

GéNIA comes from a distinguished line of Russian pianists and was taught by her great-grandmother, the renowned pianist and pedagogue Regina Horowitz (sister of pianist Vladimir Horowitz) and later by pianist Sergei Yushkevitch at the Kharkov Institute of Arts, Ukraine. She went on to study in London, with Professor Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and with Professor Douglas Finch at Trinity College of Music.

Her numerous accolades include the Premier Prix GSMD, the Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, the Founders Prize for Excellence, the Dame Myra Hess Award and the Craxton Trust Award.

GéNIA made her London debut in the Park Lane Group Young Artist Series which was followed by concert tours in the UK, Europe and the USA. Her London performances include Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Southbank Centre, St Martin-in-the-Fields, BFI, Kings Place, St. John’s Smith Square, Steinway Hall, Olympia, Vortex Jazz Club and Cargo. She also features as a soloist on the soundtracks of the award-winning films "Paradise Grove" and "Bookcruncher". Her recordings and live interviews have been broadcast on BBC TV and Radio. Always championing new music, she has received critical acclaim for her live performances and contemporary classical releases for record labels Black Box and Nonclassical. She regularly commissions new works and enjoys expanding the potential of the piano through collaborations with an eclectic range of artists and composers.

As a music educator, GéNIA developed**Removed By Admin** a multi-dimensional method of piano playing, performing and teaching. Described by Yoga & Health Magazine as ‘the first entirely new piano technique to emerge in over 50 years’, GéNIA regularly gives masterclasses and lectures based on this holistic approach. GéNIA's **Removed By Admin** book "Transform your hands: A complete ten week course of piano exercises" was published in 2009. Since then she has organised a series of **Removed By Admin** Retreats in major UK venues (Steinway Hall, Schott Music, Kings Place, Jacqueline du Pré Music Building to name a few) and launched Seven Day **Removed By Admin** Retreat in Cyprus. In 2012 GéNIA was invited by the BBC to give a series of **Removed By Admin** lessons live on BBC London Radio 94.9 and this year, following the invitation from Kings Place, she launched the **Removed By Admin**Certificate Courses in London. GéNIA’s Piano-Yoga® blog provides further insights into the art of piano playing and her **Web Address Removed**, provides further details of the method. GéNIA is also the founder of **Removed By Admin** Music School located in central London.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a founder of **Removed By Admin**, an holistic method of piano playing, teaching and performing, my teaching focuses on tailoring the method to an individual mind and body. Additionally I specialise in helping to sort out complications or injuries suffered by musicians, mainly professional, by providing preventative and rehabilitating training. My teaching is greatly rooted in the connection between the Russian School of Piano Playing and Yoga, as well as other eastern philosophies. Through **Removed By Admin**I teach students how they can improve their well-being by looking after their body, using tried and tested yoga techniques to help stretch and relax muscles, improve posture and improve flexibility. This in tern changes the way they practice and understand their own potential. I also designed **Removed By Admin**for Kids as I think everyone needs to learn piano to the highest level with correct healthy habits at any age.
