I am currently a newly qualified teacher with the agency, where I teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Before that, I worked as a support worker in a school for learners with a communication disorder and learning difficulties where I was for nine years. And while I really enjoyed the work that I did, I have love the chance to make an impact in the life of the learners, encouraged the learners to think and make new connections for themselves and resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.
I have been working for the past one year as a special education trainee teacher. During that time I have been trained and certified as a qualified teacher (teaching learners with additional needs) and I have been working with 14+ in the secondary (Agency staff) and working with adults with learning disabilities in the Lifelong Learning Sector).
My approach to teaching varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However, my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging my students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. As a tutor, my aim is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems, differentiate the lesson to bring about inclusion for learners with additional needs.
