New(ish) to Liverpool.
Irish guy here who recently moved to liverpool to begin my PGCE to become a maths teacher.
I taught i universites for three years before making the plunge into secondary school teaching. I decided to my PGCE. I have been working in fulltime employment in a secondary school, teaching maths, since September. This has given be invaluable experience in how people learn, as well as a deep understanding of the GCSE curriculum.
My three years teaching at university level has given me a deep love and understanding of higher level mathematics. I have worked in reasearch with a high element of mathematical concepts.
I went back to university in 2010 to get my degree in mathematics. I received a first class honors degree in 2014. Throughout my degree i worked part time as a tutor for sencondary school pupils.
I believe in a no one size fits all policy. Each learner has different needs. In the early stages of tutoring we identify and address any gaps, misconceptions or areas needing improvement. Ultimately (especially for GCSE) we need to get on to solid prep for exam techniques. Approaches: exam style questions, problem solving, running mock style.
