Halesowen Tutor

I enjoy teaching face-to-face and online, and I actually think the latter is incredibly practical and as effective as the former. Without the travelling!

Tutoring Experience

I currently teach and I am the course organiser for ESOL Entry 1, Functional Skills Entry 1-3 and Level 1-2 at College.

I am a qualified teacher with 10 years of classroom and one-to-one language teaching experience. I am fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and French and I have completed a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education with the specialization in teaching English for speakers of other languages. I also possess a QTLS.

During an Ofsted inspection at Brasshouse Language Centre where I worked for 9 years, I was graded as ‘Good’. The inspector praised the high quality of my resources, which were inclusive and embedding Maths and History, and my strong differentiating in teaching and questioning techniques.

For many years I worked in a variety of institutions, which gave me a diverse set of skills and the ability to adapt and to successfully perform using different Curriculums and in different teaching and learning contexts. Not only I have taught MFL at the Brasshouse Language Centre and at University College Birmingham, worked as an Italian Language Assistant at King Edward School for Girls and taught A-levels in a secondary school. I have also taught English as a foreign language at Abbey College Birmingham back in 2014, South and City College in 2017 and at Coventry City College in 2016.

Having taught at different levels, including teaching Italian at the Open University in 2011, I have developed a varied and wide range of teaching experience and the ability to differentiate teaching and learning resources and strategies to meet all learners’ needs, going from academic language teaching to providing support for students with learning disabilities.

Tutoring Approach

The beauty of 1-to-1 tuitions is that I can tailor my teaching strategies and produce teaching and learning resources according to the student's own learning pace and style, consistently altering the lesson activities as needed and embedding and including speaking, listening, reading and writing practice according to the student's individual and specific needs.

I like to establish a good rapport with my students, so that they can feel relaxed and confident in their learning progress. I have long-term private students that have been studying with me for a couple of years, and the reason is that they really enjoy learning and they are aware of how well thy are doing!
