I am a confident, driven and patient new mother of one now providing one-to-one or group tutoring of Spanish from KS3-5. As a lover of foreign languages, my journey began at secondary school learning French and German but as I didn't have the opportunity to learn Spanish at school I decided to start at university. Whilst immersing myself in the Spanish language and culture during my year abroad, I decided to earn done money by teaching English while I studied which opened my eyes to one-to-one tutoring. The reward and satisfaction I felt lead me to begin teacher training three years ago to gain my QTS and PGCE qualification in secondary education.
I decided to gain my QTS and PGCE qualification through the school direct route as I wanted to gain experience in the classroom from as early as possible. My main placement was a mixed comprehensive school teaching KS3 and KS4 Spanish and KS3 French but during that year I spent time in a grammar school teaching KS3 and KS4 Spanish and some French whilst observing Spanish IB classes.
I spent my NQT year at a girls grammar school in Maidstone, where I have now been teaching Spanish for two years. I have been teaching KS3, KS4 and AS and A Level Spanish. For GCSE we have recently moved from the Cambridge IGCSE specifications to AQA so I have experience in teaching both. My latest year 11 class achieved 100% A*-C for the IGCSE.
I am an approachable and flexible tutor who aims to tailor each session to the needs of the student. I ensure each session concentrates on all four skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking. It is important that students are able to explore the language and its culture in each session through a range of resources.
