I am an outstanding teacher of English in a local comprehensive school. I completed a Bachelor's degree in English Literature at Dublin City University, which was combined with four years of teacher training. I then completed a Masters degree in Poetry Studies and I am currently studying towards a Doctorate in Education. I am happy to travel around 15 miles from Canterbury.
I have taught in comprehensive schools in the local area for the past five years and have been successful in becoming Assisstant Academy Director and Lead teacher during this time. I have taught both English Language and English Literature at GCSE and A Level. I have tutored pupils successfully in both the UK and in Ireland.
As in my teaching, I like to use lots of analogies and examples to help pupils grasp concepts and then reinforce that learning through a focused use of exam materials when tutoring. I think that using marking schemes really help pupils to understand what exactly examiners are looking for in the questions they are asking.
