Information About Emily - Barnet tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Emily:
I have been working for Warwickshire Police since April 2016 in the Anti-Corruption Unit as an Intelligence Researcher. I have just moved back to London and am transitioning to work at City of London Police. Prior to this, I completed a Masters Degree in Forensic Linguistics and a Bachelors Degree in Linguistics at University College London.
In my spare time I enjoy running, reading and horse-riding and am now keen to try something new and share the knowledge I have learnt throughout my academic career.
I have achieved 3 A*s and 8As at GCSE level, and A*, A and B at A-level which opened the doors to further study at University College London and Aston University. As I hope is evident, I am an extremely hard-worker and have always been dedicated to my academic work. It would not have been possible for me to be so successful without the teachers and tutor I had, and it is for this reason that I would like to contribute to a child's academic journey as they did for me. Although this is my first time tutoring, I hope that I can impart knowledge and understanding through the solid foundation I have of the subject.
My approach to tutoring is to have the needs of the child at the forefront of every lesson. The key for me is patience and also to listen and understand exactly which areas the child is struggling with or needs extra clarification.
Tutoring is extremely valuable in that it provides one to one learning so that the child can ask as many questions as they need to without feeling intimidated if they were in a large class. It also means that more time can be spent on those areas which are proving difficult and reinforce and expand on the areas they have already grasped. My aim is to clear these areas up and ensure that they have a solid understanding so they feel more confident in the classroom and are prepared for those all important exams. Of course, my approach to tutoring would be tailored to each child as they all have independent needs and learn in different ways. Thus, I would accommodate each lesson to each child.
