I am currently studying Veterinary Science and Medicine at University and therefore have a good knowledge of the Sciences and Mathematics. My A level courses were in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Daily life involves me using Mathematics for drug calculations, Chemistry for drug compositions and Biology for learning anatomy and physiology. I have a passion for the Sciences and hope to use my knowledge in the future to make a difference to the lives of both animals and their carers. Before qualifying, I hope to share my knowledge supporting and encouraging students, as a role model, that develops a lifelong love of the Sciences. I am extremely enthusiastic about Science; I always try to ensure that learning about the Sciences is practical, whilst also relevant and engaging.
During my gap year, I worked in a school supporting students and coaching them in various subjects. This has enabled me to develop my teaching and mentoring skills. I worked with a range of different ages, tutoring mainly in Biology and Mathematics. I was required to plan, create and deliver the sessions, using a variety of different resources and teaching methods.
I also worked in an afterschool club for a number of years, which enabled me to develop my teaching skills.
My first objective will be to establish the aims of the sessions. I plan to encourage and support my pupils, developing their confidence and knowledge. I will show passion for my subjects and intend to increase my pupils interest in the subject. I will then find a style of learning that suits each pupil.
