Glasgow Tutor

I am a very experienced teacher/lecturer educated to masters level with a great deal of overseas and UK teaching in my past.
I'm a mum of three ( and two of my kids have learning difficulties) and consider myself to be a compassionate and intuitive person who can find a way to help an individual learn the way that best suits them.
I'm very upbeat and positive and always well prepared and confident. My previous tutoring spans mant years and many countries.
I've a good sense of humour, a light touch but I do get the very best from my students as I use a firm hand.

Tutoring Experience

I've tutored students in the Scottish, English, US and International Baccalaureate systems and my specialisms are English Literature and History. I'm registered with the Scottish General Teaching Council for both Further Education and Secondary and for both English and General studies. This means I can teach both adults and teenagers.I have an exceptionally high pass rate for my classroom teaching and I work as an external Examiner and Moderator for an examination board. Yes, I'm expensive by the hour, but I'm also very experienced and successful in helping students reach their potential. I've spent a lot of my career working with students with Learning Difficulties and welcome these individuals in particular.

Tutoring Approach

I consider every student to be different, with their own particular way of learning. Quite often, students do not achieve in school/college because they cannot absorb classroom information simply because the method of presentation doesn't suit their personal style. Frequently, students suffer from overload, poor organisation or simply can't differentiate between the vital and the trivial when bombarded with work. Some visual learners need assistance in creating revision styles while some students who listen well yet can't record information coherently require help in assembling facts/figures from what they hear. In general, I have had huge success with individual tutoring over the years in many subject areas simply because I take the trouble to learn how each student learns and then build on their strengths.
