Hello! I am a third year International Management and French student at the University of Bath with previous tutoring experience. I am a friendly, patient, clear and organised tutor who truly cares for the success of her tutees and am happy to tutor anyone from primary school age right up to A level. Having achieved a 2:1 in my first year as well as gaining an A at A2 level French, and an A* at GCSE level, I am highly familiar with the specifications and material and can also help with revision tips and exam technique if requested.
I have experience tutoring a GCSE student, paying particular attention to his coursework tasks, helping to raise his grade to an A*. Additionally, during my A levels I spent two hours per week assisting in language classrooms, helping with tasks such as correcting grammar and building confidence in spoken language. I have also spent many an hour helping out my younger sister with her French homework!
I take great care tailoring my lessons to the individual needs of my tutee, going at a pace that suits them and focusing on specific areas if needed. Moreover, I aim to create a thorough understanding of the French language with my tutees, rather than simply preparing them to jump through hoops set by the exam board. In my experience, if a student deeply understands a topic, they are much less likely to be startled if something unexpected comes up in the exam, which has often been the case in recent years. I also place emphasis on building the confidence of my tutees, working on accent and pronunciation to help erase the embarrassment that often comes with speaking a second language, leading to better results in oral exams. Ultimately, however, I aim to make tutoring a fun experience, as I believe the more enjoyable the subject is, the greater the chance of success.
