Personal Description:

I am an actress and university English graduate from Loughborough University. I have always been involved with various types of tutoring and volunteering with children, and I am friendly, reliable and dedicated to helping everyone reach their best potential. I love helping others to further understand a subject and become more self-assured in their knowledge. I am hard working, approachable and trustworthy and have always gotten on well with all my tutees and children I have babysat/supervised. I am at a grade 6 standard for both the violin and piano and would be more than happy to teach students for grade 1, 2 and 3.

Tutoring Experience:

I have privately taught Maths, English, French and Drama over my time at university, and have almost three years of experience with one on one English, Maths and Piano lessons. I contributed to a reading programme whilst attending sixth form, in order to help younger children improve their reading skills and fluency. Alongside this, I gave weekly lessons, tutoring French to a student studying her GCSEs. In doing so I helped her gain confidence in her speaking and writing, broadened her vocabulary and helped her to achieve a grade higher than she was aiming for! Throughout school I have always gotten involved with any volunteering or tutoring/helper opportunities to help younger students.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always adapt my lessons to suit my tutee (and depending on the subject). I am happy to take a range of approaches, especially if my tutee doesn't know their best way of learning/revising. I find going through exercises/past papers, explaining specific topics and testing to be very helpful with maths, whereas English and Drama are more broad, so I will research the subject that we will be covering (if I haven't studied it already), organise sample writing, grammar checks, testing on various elements that they are struggling with; and I will organise vocabulary tests, topical exercises and extra sessions depending on the aspects of the language that they are struggling with.
