Personal Description:

The Cambridge MB/PhD programme is designed for medical students who demonstrate clear potential to pursue a career in medical research. The programme combines 6 years of training to become a doctor with an additional 3 years to undertake a PhD sandwiched in between year 4 and 5. Each year only a handful of students are selected from across the Cambridge Colleges to join this demanding programme.

As an MB/PhD student at the University of Cambridge, I have completed my 4th year in Medicine and have now commenced the first year of my PhD. My research involves the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning and radiomics in the prediction of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and stroke. You can find out more about the exciting research that is currently undertaken at the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge here: **Web Address Removed**

Tutoring Experience:

I have volunteered as a mentor for A-level Biology since 2012 and have been helping prospective medical students with their applications, personal statements, interview, UKCAT and BMAT preparations since 2013. As the President of the Medical and Veterinary Society at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge from 2015-2016, I offered help and support for the medical students of the college.

A doctor must have many qualities, and the ability to be a good teacher and mentor is highly important in both the doctor's career and the future of medicine. To learn Medicine, we cannot rely solely on books and videos or lectures; we are also reliant on our seniors to teach us and pass on their wisdom.

Tutoring Approach:

I am only able to offer online tutoring via **Contact Detail Removed** as that provides me with the most flexibility. My approach to tutoring will differ depending on what subject you have chosen.

For Biology and Chemistry (GCSE), I will be teaching the subject tailored towards the specifications of the particular exam board that your school follows, for example, AQA, OCR, Edexcel etc. We can work together to identify any areas of difficulties and work through the topics so that you have a clear understanding of the different modules. What we go through in a lesson will be specific to your individual needs.

For Medicine, I am able to advise on the overall medical application in terms of work experience, voluntary work and extra-curricular activities, including further reading into topics of interest. I am also able to tailor advice specific to prospective medical students thinking of applying to Oxbridge universities. I offer a personal statement proof-reading service and can suggest helpful corrections and amendments as well as offer sessions for medical school interview preparations. This will involve setting research topics each week, and mock interviews in the style of multiple-mini interviews with different scenarios, and panel interviews covering topics such as medical ethics and biomedical sciences.

My lessons aim to help you achieve a better understanding of the course material and also to challenge you to think more broadly.

Please note: Due to my demanding schedule, I am only able to offer a maximum of 5 hours worth of lessons per week. Therefore, I am able to take no more than five students at any one time.

I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
