German Lessons in Southsea

Hello, my name is Elena, I’m 29 years old and live in Portsmouth. I am a German native speaker and I have been living in the UK for 2 years now. Before moving to the UK I worked and lived in France. As well as having a bachelor’s degree in politics and sociology, I am also a fully qualified teacher having gained my teaching qualification in the UK (PGCE) I am passionate about learning and teaching languages believe they are essential when living in a globalized world. I love traveling and discovering different cultures. Another passion of mine is cooking as I think the kitchen is a very creative and inspiring place.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked in a 6th form college as well as two secondary schools in the UK, one of which had its own 6th form. Therefore I have experience in teaching German and French at key stage 3, 4 and 5 (GCSE and A-level - only German at key stage 5). I am familiar with both the new GCSE as well as the new A-level specifications in German and I can help you to gain the best result and be successful in your final exam.

It would also be pleasure for me to help you improve your German for work purposes.
I feel that I can provide you great support when learning functional language. I can also support your learning with a lot of authentic resources such as videos, films, and texts. Having grown up and worked in Germany, I can also provide you with an introduction to working in a German-speaking environment.

Tutoring Approach

Learning a foreign language is both exciting and challenging. It is a holistic process which needs time and passion. In my opinion mistakes are very important during this learning process. Making mistakes is very normal and actually necessary when learning a language. Everybody also has their own pace when improving language skills. Therefore I use mistakes very constructively and help you to learn from them at your own individual pace.
I also think that speaking a foreign language without fear and with confidence is the most important step for success and I can help you lose any fears you might have when speaking a foreign language.

I can help you to improve all four skills you need to learn a language: listening, writing, speaking and reading as well as providing you with the understanding grammar to progress in these areas.
