I am a native speaker of Russian and I also teach French, Spanish and ESOL. I now teach at a private college on the Isle of Man.
I am passionate about my job and always strongly believed that working with people is something that I enjoy most.
I have more than ten years’ experience in teaching French, Spanish, Russian, and English (EAL/ESOL) - both in my native Georgia, in the UK and in France.
The international nature of my training and education has given me a unique perspective on the learning needs of pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. For example, I have taught French to English speakers, Russian to English speakers and French to Russian speakers and have also taught English (ESOL) to learners from South Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
I became a languages teacher because I have always been fascinated by other countries and cultures. For me, learning to speak another language enabled me to achieve a much better understanding of other peoples and cultures, a skill that is now crucial in a globalised economy. Language is first and foremost a cultural instrument, and a means of communication for people across the world. In the modern world cross-cultural communication takes place each day involving millions of people. Thus a person who speaks a foreign language has huge advantages over one who does not. My mission as a languages teacher is not just to teach languages, but also to nurture people's love, respect and inquisitiveness about other cultures.
In my teaching I use the latest teaching and learning technologies and resources. I strongly believe that my lessons should be bespoke i.e. adapted to learners' needs.
