Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate from Cambridge University, living in London. I am preparing to start my MSt in English literature at Oxford University in October, where I have received the Jeremy Griffiths Memorial Studentship to enable me to continue my studies.

At Cambridge, I received the Thomas Gray Scholarship for English, the Hugo de Balsham Prize for Academic Excellence, the Friends of Peterhouse prize from my college, Peterhouse, as well as two University prizes: the Derek Brewer prize for Medieval Literature, and the T.R. Henn Prize for Original Composition. I have a broad range of interests in English literature - in my final year I specialised in a variety of subjects, including photography and modernist short fiction, Caribbean literature, and Chaucer.

I am also a keen linguist, and continued to improve my Ancient Greek language skills while at University by taking extra-curricular supervisions in this subject. My approach to academic learning is characterised by a serious commitment to creativity and the arts: I played in orchestras (NCO and LSSO) throughout primary school and secondary school, and passed my ABRSM flute diploma in 2012.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience tutoring for 11+ exams, GSCE, A level, and secondary school homework help. I also have experience volunteering with vulnerable children and children with learning difficulties, having volunteered for a year with Student Community Action while at University.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the best way to help a person to learn is to encourage their own interests and excitement in the subject. When tutoring, I do my best to pass on my enthusiasm for literature and language to my students, sometimes using more unconventional methods such as asking a child to express their ideas through drawing pictures. I have developed what I have found to be a very effective set of exam techniques, and am able to provide clear and practical guidance in this area.
