Personal Description:

I'm Eleanor, a qualified teacher returning back to my native city of Brighton. I have three years teaching experience and pride myself on being able to both stretch the most able students and engage the most reluctant.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a fully qualified teacher who has taught KS3, GCSE and A-Level at a school in North London. In 2015, 50% of my GCSE class achieved A* or A grades, and 78% of my A-Level Physics class achieved A*-B grades.

Tutoring Approach:

Having taught and tutored across a wide range of abilities, approachability is the cornerstone of my tutoring because learning is easiest with someone you trust. There is no question too silly or basic, or that can be asked too many times. Maths especially should also be fun, so as a tutoring relationship develops I add competetive and game based elements to our tutoring routine. I approach each tutee as an individual and am able to quickly assess underlying issues that may be causing difficulty with a particular subject.

When tutoring maths, I gauge a tutee's level of confidence with basic mathematical operations, and progress from there, whether a student is looking to secure a C or and A*.

I believe all the sciences should be practical, exciting subjects, but also have access to a wide range of exam materials to allow understanding to be translated into exam results for older students. Learning happens most easily when tutees feel able to question anything they don't understand, so I strive to create dialogue and openness in all my tutoring.
