I have enormous passion, enthusiasm and patience for helping children and adults to learn in a friendly, positive and supportive way.
I decided to become a tutor after working for over thirty years in public sector teaching, youth work, community education, workplace training, managing and management development, I love doing this and get enormous pleasure from having supported children 8-13 year olds, across all ability levels, in achieving and often exceeding their objectives for English and Maths.
I also help adults to learn English as a Second Language support university students in using skills needed to complete their dissertation.
I am continuously thinking about the learning needs of my students and put a lot of time and energy into planning lessons that are varied, imaginative, relevant, engaging and interesting. My style is friendly and respectful to adults and children alike. I encourage and challenge my students to develop confidence in their abilities and to feel they can trust me to be doing all I can to help them learn.
Building confidence and enjoyment in learning is always my first goal because I find this makes a huge difference to a learners ability to achieve.
