Personal Description:

I have a joint honours degree from the University of Manchester in Mathematics and Spanish, during which time a spent a year abroad studying at university in Spain. After placing in the top 14% in the GAMSAT (medical school entrance exams), I am now studying graduate medicine at St. George's, University of London.

I have studied a breadth of subjects from Pure Mathematics and Clinical Medical Sciences, to Spanish Language and Latin American Culture. This diversity gives me a teaching style that can adapt to any type of learner, whether you consider yourself scientific or not.

I am patient in my approach and tailor my teaching to suit you as an individual. I look to encourage confidence in my students, and supply you with learning tools that will be applicable to all areas of your current and future studies.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching and mentoring children aged 10-17 in an after school homework club in Spanish, a non native language for me. This required both patience and an adjustable approach to teaching, altering language and simplifying explanations to best suit the students.

I have also provided one-to-one tuition for adults and offered coaching and exam technique to peers and friends.

The medical programme I am currently on focuses on Problem Based Learning. This style of learning requires students to work through medical cases, identifying relevant learning objectives. It is then the responsibility for students to teach each other in groups of 6-8 people. In this way students become teachers to their peers, and I have personally taught in tutorials several times a week throughout the academic year.

Tutoring Approach:

My wide range of expertise gives me a unique advantage, since I am able to tackle tasks from both a scientific and non-scientific approach.

I believe in developing knowledge of yourself as much as your subject, so as to help you identify what are your strengths, and where your weaknesses lie.

The best results are produce when you are having fun, so I always aim to make sessions enjoyable and relaxed to foster an environment where mistakes are not feared, but understood to be all part of the learning process.

My experiences of exams are that they can be a stressful and daunting process that do not always reflect one's true ability. However with the right preparation and technique, I have found that you can learn to put the odds in your favour and harness your best potential.
