This is how 2 referees rated Edward:
Computer Studies / I.T.
I have been teaching since 2006 in a variety of education settings in London, Northampton and Milton Keynes. I have assisted in the organisation and delivery of Mathematics programmes which lead to Nationally accredited awards (GCSE, Functional Skills, NVQ & OCR Adult Numeracy).
I have taught for many years in mainstream schools where students are placed into sets. Currently, I teach in a special education unit where the young people have a range of special education needs. They also have several ‘barriers’ to learning which need to be addressed in order for them to achieve. I enjoy tutoring and have over 15 years of experience mainly unpaid.
I believe in order to succeed in studying Maths, you need two things: knowledge and confidence. I believe that my role as a teacher is to facilitate both an increase in Maths knowledge and Maths confidence as the two are linked. In order to improve the confidence of students in Maths, I think we need to consider why confidence may be low and what we can do to improve it and maintain it. I believe that everyone can and should enjoy Maths and not be afraid of learning it.
