Latin and Greek (Ancient) Lessons in Battersea

I am Head of Classics at an independent prep school in London. I have an A Level in Latin and a First Class Honours degree in Classics (both Latin and Greek) from Exeter University. I live in Wandsworth and am a keen cyclist and runner.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching Classics for five years. I spent four of these at a prep school in Cambridge, teaching Latin and Greek to scholarship standard. I spent the last year at a secondary school in Surrey, teaching Latin up to A Level, as well as The World of The Hero module in the Classical Civilisation A Level. I have extensive tutoring experience, including Latin and Greek GCSE, Latin and Greek Common Entrance, and scholarship papers to major public schools around the UK. I have an Outstanding IPGCE from the University of Buckingham as well.

Tutoring Approach

I enjoy one-on-one tutoring a great deal, and I believe it can be a highly productive experience for the tutee. I take an analytical approach to Latin and Greek translation, ensuring that the tutee is able to account for the role of each part of speech in a sentence, and use their knowledge of the grammar to piece a sentence together, rather than relying on vocabulary. I ensure that tutorials are fairly relaxed, and am happy to either bring work myself which is relevant to the tutee's level, or assist with the tutee's current work.
