Personal Description:

My name is Eamonn and I am a trainee Barrister (Honorable Society of King's Inns, Dublin) living and working in Belfast city centre. I have had a rich and divserse education which has allowed me to develop an advanced proficiency in the French language and obtain separte law degrees in Irish and French law as well as a Double Master's degree in European Law and Comparative Law (Common Law & French Law).

As part of my studies, I lived in Paris for 3 years, studying at Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas), and being taught entirely through the medium of French as a member of the ordinary French student body - as opposed to as an International Student.

To succeed in this world, it was necessary to reach an advanced level of proficiency in the French language and to do this quickly in order to get to grips with complicated legal issues.

Currently, I am training as a Barrister in Dublin and as such, I have a detailed knowledge in a number of areas of law in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland (Tort Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Judicial Review, Equity & Trusts, Private International Law) as well as European Law - in which I hold a Masters degree. (EU Constitutional Law, Competition Law, EU Economic Law etc.).

Moreover, I can offer tuition in French law and French legal terminology.

I can provide tuition to any students seeking to improve their knowledge of the law, in particular university students. I can also provide intensive instruction in preparation for University Admissions tests (In this regard, I have experience of the Cambridge admissions process and the LNAT).

Furthermore, I can also tutor anyone seeking to sit the entrance examinations for qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Republic of Ireland (FE1 & King's Inns) as well as the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (Belfast).

Finally, I can provide assistance to those seeking to improve their communication skills: public speaking, written advocacy, speech writing and essay construction.

As you can see, I offer teaching in a wide variety of areas - please do feel free to get in touch if you would like to enquire further or to discuss your own particular learning goals.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored students before, both in Dublin and in Paris, and I am at ease in providing detailed yet readily accessible instruction to students in order to help them get to their desired level.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is very interactive, this is a style that I developed myself - when I found myself living and studying in France, I needed to find ways of rapidly improving my French to a level that would allow to live and enjoy life in Paris. I can identify what students need first and foremost. I have been there myself.

My teaching will focus on helping tutees to get to grips with the subject, to enjoy it and to want to learn it. Rote-learning is a chore. In showing students a world beyond the pages of their textbook where they can truly apply what they are learning, they will want to study and improve. Rapid progression is a natural consequence in these conditions.
