An organised, flexible and enthusiastic educator with a strong set of interpersonal skills.
I'm an English graduate with a genuine passion for literature and language. Helping pupils with English is my forte, though I also have experience providing support with Maths and all other areas of the curriculum at primary school level.
Working in the education sector has encouraged a strong sense of responsibility for my work and the work of the pupils under my guidance.
I have five years' experience providing one-to-one support to a wide variety of pupils in both primary and secondary education, and working with pupils with special educational needs. Highly experienced as a teaching assistant, I mainly work one-to-one with pupils struggling to access the curriculum.
I provide specialised support with English and Creative Writing; helping pupils with dyslexia to improve their reading skills through the My Lexia and Toe-By-Toe programmes. I have tutored pupils in English at GCSE level, and have recently tutored Year 6 pupils preparing for English SATS exams.
My experience in mainstream primary and SEN secondary education has developed my flexibility and understanding of how people learn. A careful listener and a clear communicator, I am able to present information in a variety of styles.
I am friendly and approachable and I believe in building a pupil's confidence by first creating a calm atmosphere. Patience and a sense of humour are essential in building a rapport with a pupil. I believe that learning should be fun and that education is its own reward.
