Technologist with a passion for sharing Science through Digital Art Maker Skills with kids, young people and anyone who loves to craft and make stuff. I run a small digital art studio in Hersden Canterbury working with families to funnel our children’s passion for their iPads into creating Art and 3D sculptures using our Drawit.clubs Glowforge laser cutter. Our latest project is creating Key Stage 3 science experiments for home schooling, this by merging science and DT( Design and Technology) to make such fun projects as decorative home made Bath bombs.
I’ve been supporting youth within a digital context since 2005, helping kids and young people teach themselves to code. I also created the youth zone at the London Mozilla annual festival that saw young people invited to come share their passion as youth led workshops with each other and our wider adult audience (2013-2016). From 2016 I’d started to turn my attention to Art in a digital context, this as my daughter’s aptitude was leaning towards the digital art domain. Now age 13 with her skills sufficiently advanced, we are tutoring together in design and technology while building her DT portfolio at the same time to apply for the Advance DT track at her senior school. Teaching the step by step process of how to draw and using digital art as a tool to develop fine motor skills.
We strongly advocate for skill based learning as this empowers growth based on your own skills. Our aim is to help you or your young person to become an independent learners so progression at home becomes possible.
Special needs support: My expertise lays in supporting those with Dyslexia (I myself am a higher functioning dyslexic) and more specifically helping others to develop fine motor control using digital art as my tool. In person, I have worked with a range of on the spectrum disabilities with all of our clubs youth members successfully so far transitioning to apprenticeships or university in adult life.
