I am a native French speaker with 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience of all age groups in London.
Prior to teaching, I was a graphic designer with experience in creative and commercial environments working largely with childrens products both In France and in England.
I am mature, methodical and approachable with an excellent knowledge of French culture including literature, arts and current affairs. I have a passion for my mother tongue and enjoy sharing it with others. My success in bringing up a son who is truly bilingual is also a testimony to my ability to teach/support young children in their learning of a language.
For the last 16 years I have taught small groups of GCSE, (I)GCSE, AS/A level pupils and large classrooms of years 7 and 9 (SATS) in the French department of the highly competitive Notting Hill & Ealing High School for girls in West London.
Work experience with all following exams boards (OCR/ Cambridge/ Welsh board/ Edexcel and AQA)
Successfully tutor boys and girls, on a one-to-one basis, from highly academic independent schools in London (Latymer, St. Pauls, Merchant Taylors).
Provide support for pupils for entrance examinations to Harrow, Eton and Westminster.
Give conversational lessons to adults who are preparing for life in France.
Help French natives of school age in their education of all subjects in the French curriculum.
Can give support to Undergraduate and Postgraduates in French Literature.
My teaching approach follows a simple French recipe;
One-to-one is best with attention to individual needs;
Take some hard facts on grammar and cut them into small bites;
Sprinkle with lots of new words;
Use a handful of visuals, preferably with colour;
Add 2 tablespoons of praise and encouragement;
Mix in several teaspoons of exam practice;
Add a pinch of humour and laughter;
Drizzle with enthusiasm;
Stir it all slowly, with patience, to help create a confident pupil, able to progress at his/her own rhythm to achieve his/her own potential
Et voila!
