Award winning former Head of Politics (and teacher of History) at Merchant Taylors' School in London, one of the top twenty schools in the UK.
When I was a full-time teacher, my students consistently gained some of the highest grades in A Level Politics in the country, with A* percentage above 50% in some years (national average was 7% at the time). My last class of GCSE History students had 100% A*/A success rate (national average 27%).
Since becoming a full-time tutor, I have helped a student win a Queen's scholarship to Westminster School, and guided hard working Politics 'A' Level students to improve on their AS results by three grades from C to A* and D to A, while also helping them through the UCAS process get to prestigious universities. Two of my AS students went from U grades in their mock to A grades in the final exam in 2017. In addition to tutoring, I am an election observer for the Foreign Office. I am writing a book on electoral fraud based on my many missions overseas. I also provide inspirational Sixth Form talks at dozens of schools about international and British politics.
Ten years of teaching experience at one of the best schools in the UK. Trained in teaching at the University of Oxford. Masters in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and in International Politics from the University of Edinburgh. My undergraduate degree was in Politics from the University of Exeter.
I have been an Examiner for the Government & Politics 'A' Level, and been involved in training for the new 2017 Politics A Level.
Winner of a national prize (the Paul Hope Award) for one of the most inspirational extra-curricular activities in England.
I have also taught English as a Second Language in Egypt, South Africa and Romania.

Exam technique, as well as knowledge, is key. I specialise in how to communicate knowledge and deploy skills in ways that enable the examiner to award top marks. I am particularly good at stretching academically gifted students towards the top grades and preparing them for the next level of their studies. My students frequently gain full UMS. That said, behind the professional exterior, I am passionate about Politics and History, and enjoy sharing my passion to those starting out in these fascinating subjects in a relaxed and approachable way.
I also provide Oxbridge and Russell Group Personal Statement advice and proof-reading as well as interview preparation.
I know that I am not the cheapest tutor here - but you get what you pay for. I'm highly experienced at teaching and tutoring, and charge high rates because in addition to being a professional expert in my field, I seek to work with those determined to make progress.
