This is how 2 referees rated Dominic:
Hi, I'm Dom. I am a PhD student researching Atmospheric Dynamics (sky physics!) In the Department of Meteorology at Reading University. I did my undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of Bath where I graduated BSc Physics w/Study Abroad, with upper-second class honours in 2017.
I have had bits and bobs of experience tutoring A-Level students both as an undergraduate and peer-to-peer while attending sixth form. During my year studying abroad I also tutored for "bridging" courses at the University of Canterbury, NZ- somewhere between A-Level and first year UG level. As an Undergraduate I assisted in the Peer Assisted Learning scheme.
I have also taken the "Preparing to Teach" researcher development programme at Reading University.
My approach to tutoring is to separate aspects of a topic which need to be understood from foundational principles from aspects which have to be learned by rote, and then to treat them accordingly.
I don't believe in "Natural Talent" in maths and problem solving; it's like a muscle which needs to be exercised, and learning the proper form in order to do this effectively is often the only difference between success and failure. I am a patient person, and I will keep going with different ways to look at a topic until we can understand how you would be naturally inclined to approach it, so we can work out how to set you up on the road to success.
