It is fair to say that I am truly passionate about Science. Indeed I am passionate about teaching Science to young people. As somebody who had a rather poor experience at secondary school I fully understand the importance of a good teacher and so set very high standards of myself as I work with young people.
After completing my degree in Biochemistry I also completed a doctorate in Biochemistry and Biophysics. After working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham I decided to transfer to teaching. I am now a very successful teacher who leads a team of strong science teachers.
I have been working as a qualified teacher for the last 16 years. The students that I teach perform very strongly and make progress that puts them in the top 10% of students (for progress) nationwide. When observed by inspectors and senior leaders I am frequently graded as an 'outstanding' teacher.
My approach reflects a commitment to:
a. Helping my students achieve the highest grades possible.
b. Ensuring that students truly understand Science rather than just learning facts and figures.
My students usually find me approachable and easy to relate to. However, they will be challenged in every lesson to achieve as highly as possible.
