I have taught English for 30 years in a mainstream secondary school in London. I have also worked with students who have special needs. I am very approachable and friendly but I am serious about improving literacy skills wherever I can.
I have a family of my own and I enjoy walking, reading, writing stories, and visiting the theatre.
I have a degree in English Language and Literature. I have taught abroad in a school in Northern Cyprus. I have taught English in a mainstream, secondary school in North London, for 30 years, and I have worked in a special needs unit in Manchester. I have a PGCE and an advanced diploma in special needs.
I enjoy working 1:1 in tuition because I can identify very clearly what the student needs to do to improve and together we can work on those skills. The student has time to explain their needs and I can facilitate their learning.
I taught a student intensively for a November retake and he increased his level from a 3 to a 5 !
I have recently taught a student from March - June 2018 and he increased his level from a 3 to a 5 !

I have just received the brilliant news that Gill's son achieved level 5 in his November retake , so has made a vast improvement from a level 3, which he was at when I met him. He made excellent progress with my teaching and support. I taught him for 2 hours per week and we worked intensively towards the exam, and it worked ! Well done ! (Jan 2018)
