Computer Studies / I.T.
I have been married 31 years and work under my company name of Lalapalooza Limited as a freelance IT Trainer/Tutor. I am insured for public liability and hold indemnity insurance.
I breed Persian Cats, and am enjoying working on my established garden in the property which I moved into a year ago. Originially from the North West, I have lived in Norfolk for the past 10 years, as well as 4 years in the 1980's. I have studied computing courses at degree level with the Open University, and hope to complete this at some point in the near future when time allows.
I am passionate in helping people achieve their goals.
I have tutored adults in Microsoft Office applications for over eight years in the NHS, including clinical systems training in SystmOne, iPM, E-Rostering, and CareNotes applications. Tutoring absolute beginners to those with some exerience, but looking to improve their knowledge base. I have delivered tutoring on a one to one basis to business professionals upgrading their systems, to classrooms of up to 12.
I also have two years experience in soft skills training mainly team-building skills whilst I worked at GEC Plessey. I have completed my PTLLS course, along with my TAP certifcation. I also hold a Level 3 certification in supporting learners with dyslexia.
I am passionate about supporting individuals and companies in upgrading their computer skills. I believe to tutor someone effectively you need to understand how they learn, and so an important part of my role is to identify this so I can ensure they get the best out of the session(s).
I specialise in total beginners, and have run computing for the terrified courses for those who feel they need a gentle introduction to using computers, helping demistify terminology and allay fears of deleting everything!
In tutoring an individual in IT applications, it is important to establish what skills an individual requires, so I can target the skills required, rather than stick to a set programme of skills which the client will never use. Working on a one to one basis allows this flexibility and also assists those with dyslexia to learn more effectively.
