This is how 2 referees rated Deborah:
I have taught in both the state and independent sectors in England and have experience in tutoring abroad. English is an exciting subject open to a wide range of approaches, from close study of the historical and syntactical frameworks of language, through to the embracing and appreciation of a range of styles in literature and personal writing.
I have been teaching English Language and English Literature for over 18 years. I am experienced in teaching students of wide ranging abilities across Key stages 3-5 and also those students for whom English is a second language. I have planned, developed and taught schemes of work for AQA and WJEC syllabi in preparation for GCSE. In addition, I have tutored students studying OCR, EDEXCEL and IGCSE. I am also an examiner for GCSE. At Key Stage 5, I have taught OCR, WJEC and AQA Literature as well as AQA and OCR English Language.
As a tutor I regard each student as an individual and so plan accordingly.
Fundamental to every student’s success is a firm grasp of the basics of language such as spelling, punctuation and sentence construction. Once these are in place, progress can be assured. I am cheerful, sympathetic and patient and look forward to teaching your child.
