I am an excellent teacher practitioner. With over 22 years teaching at Claires Court Schools under my belt, a good English degree from a prestigious British university and a Secondary English teaching qualification as well as over 17 years examining experience, I can offer a top quality service with a guaranteed outcome. I will bring references and certificates to our first set up lesson.
About myself: I am a mother of four (now all out in the world) I come to you for a fee, tutor in my own home or more frequently now via Skype. Young people are comfortable with this method of learning and it does make the sessions more flexible.
I teach English Language and Literature at GCSE (AQA/Edexcel/OCR) and Literature up to A level (Cambridge/AQA) as well as the Cambridge English Literature Pre-U. Since 2000, I have examined English for a national exam boards (Cambridge, AQA, Edexcel) at both GCSE and A Level.
I have been in charge of an A level paper and I am currently involved with A Level exam coursework moderation. (AQA)
English is the key to success in all subjects at all levels and it is vital to develop these comprehension and language skills at as early an age as possible.
I am an expert tutor with a track record of success and 25 years of examining and teaching.
I have my own **Contact Detail Removed** channel and you can see some examples of my teaching there- look at Ms s descriptive and creative writing. In this playlist **Web Address Removed**
I have a series of references from past and current students of all levels to verify this. I have increased results at A level from D to A and at GCSE I have a track record of getting very under performing students through with a pass at least. Many of my GCSE students go on to achieve A or B from significantly lower predictions. I have solid experience with SEN especially Dyslexia and Aspergers. I believe in making tutoring fun and a rewarding experience. We focus on reading and extrapolate the other skills from there.Without a reading habit, it is very difficult to develop the attendant skills of writing/comprehension and speaking articulately.I will , if at all possible, let the pupils guide me in his or her interests and/or we will supplement what they are doing at school.
Home schooling : Recent educational changes have meant more and more of my students benefit from home schooling: one to one tuition in this situation reaps enormous benefits.I specialise in home schooling for A English Literature level as well as English Language and Literature GCSE

Her love and knowledge of the English language is evident and it transfers onto our daughters, who are enjoying their sessions tremendously.
Not only does Deborah make it fun for them to do extra English, but she encourages them to become avid readers and to improve their creative writing, skills that transfers to all of their subjects.
Every week they are set some reading and homework that is appropriate for their age, but are challenging enough to get them to step up their game. Deborah then assesses the homework, give positive feedback and adjust where necessary to help our girls acquire new skills.
Deborah is flexible, listens and responds to the need of each child and seems to enjoy working with her students.
We are looking forward to keep on walking a journey with Deborah in the months to come.
She immediately bonded with my daughter who is looking forward to more sessions.
