This is how a referee rated David:
I am a recent Physics graduate, who received a 1st Class Batchelor's degree, with honours, from King's College London. I have a deep interest in science and the world around me, as well as a passion for sharing that knowledge and insight to people around me. Whether its spoken or in written form, translating complex scientific information into comprehendible, bite-sized pieces for ordinary people to understand is a major source of satisfaction in my life.
My love for science extends beyond academia, as I am also a qualified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, and I advocate healthy lifestyles to keep the body and mind in pristine condition.
I have been tutoring on a freelance basis for the past two years, starting from scratch and independently refining my teaching skills as time progressed. I have successfully tutored GCSE, high-school, and A-Level students in Mathematics and Science subjects, whereupon they achieved their target grades in their examinations and were highly satisfied with my services.
Furthermore, during university, I served as a Careers Coach at Oasis Academy, Waterloo for year 7 and 8 students, mentoring the students with regards to their career aspirations, and helped them sculpt smart goals for their high school studies in order to attain their targets and ambitions.
My belief is that students learn best when they discover the knowledge for themselves. Over the years, I have been a diligent practitioner of whats known as "the Socratic method" where I teach my students based on strategically-worded question-and-answers between me and the student, that eventually lead to them discovering the knowledge for themselves.
This method goes against the common "spoon-feeding" approach that we witness, and instead, builds up an intellect in the student that goes beyond what they do in school and transfers through to the rest of their lives.
