This is how 2 referees rated David:
I am a 25 year old Aerospace engineering graduate from the University of Hertfordshire and qualified maths teacher at a secondary school in Stevenage. I believe that everyone is able to achieve mathematical understanding and have a passion for my subject field. I have experience with working with children of any KS2 entry level up to resit GCSEs and A-Level mechanics and C1. I am also able to tutor adults who wish to expand their mathematical understanding to problem solve or numerical fluency. I am able to travel but further distances may impact on costs.
I am a fully qualified maths teacher who is now looking to take on tutees outside my working school hours. I have worked with a range of different children from year 7 to year 13 of varying confidence. I specialise in M1 and M2 for A level tutees but I am also able to tutor C1.
I believe in a maths mastery approach and I have a range of experience in looking at mathematical approaches with a deeper and broader overview of individual topics. This often exposes mathematical misconceptions which can often cause issues with later topics, and assists with mathematical reasoning and problem solving, an important skill for passing the new 0-9 GCSE specification starting in 2016. I have experience in using concrete manipulatives and pictorial representations to aid understanding.
