Hi I'm David, an experienced maths tutor offering a professional tutoring service to students from primary to university level.
I grew up in Suffolk, and went through the primary, middle, and high school system here. After completing my GCSEs and A-levels, I worked at a local pet food company for a few years, before moving to Nottingham University to train as a civil engineer. I graduated with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering awarded with first class (Hons), before moving on to specialise in fluid mechanics at postgraduate level.
I began tutoring maths on a one-to-one basis during my first year in Nottingham, and I have continued for the six years since then. In this time I have taught students from ages 6 to 28 years old, across all the main examining bodies (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, OCR-MEI and CIE).
While in Nottingham, the majority of students I worked with were organised through Hyson Green Homework Club. This was a free point of access scheme being run by the local council authority in collaboration with the regional library system, to provide homework help and guidance for students who were struggling in school. Being through the council authority, I had a full enhanced CRB check for this position.
More recently, since returning to Suffolk I have been working independently, and began advertising with FirstTutors in October 2014. Presently, I'm working with students from Northgate High School, St. Albans Catholic High School, Woodbridge School and University Campus Suffolk. These include:
- GCSE students, covering foundation and higher level.
- A-level students, covering modules C1-C4, M1-M2, S1-S2.
- University students, covering Fourier Series, Fourier Transforms, ODEs, PDEs, Matrices, Complex Numbers, etc.
My aim will always be to build your confidence in maths. I personally used to dread being asked questions in school, and so my lessons are designed so that you never feel like that. The work that we do will utilise us practising questions together, and talking about anything that is difficult.
I will always come to lessons well prepared, and with plenty of resources to pass on. I consider myself to be very diligent, and across a run of lessons I will ensure all topics are covered in depth. When we reach the point of preparing for exams, I have quite literally hundreds of past exam questions for us to practise with.
I am happy to travel to you, if this is convenient. Currently I am able to cover anywhere between Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.
