Personal Description:

My research interests span between the history of ancient art and the history of collecting. In particular, my studies entail research in the perception of objects of applied arts from the late-Antiquity. I am now working on a PhD thesis on Gaetano Marini (1742-1815), an Italian librarian and polymath scholar who became prefect of the Vatican Archives in 1782.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught Art History, Classical Civilzations, and Latin for many years in Italy and in the United Kingdom. In my past teaching roles, I taught 13 to 18-year-old students during regular and intensive courses. My courses were designed to serve as an introduction to the history, literature, culture, and belief system of the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Special emphasis was placed on the numerous contributions of these classical cultures to the modern world, and how understanding ancient cultures can give us new perspectives on modern-day issues. Students were encouraged to develop their critical thinking skills and personally explore the subject throughout debates, reading sessions, analysis of ancient sources, re-enactments and interactive exercises.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring focuses on the student's needs. This involves meeting individually or in very small groups, with myself, typically once a week or once a fortnight. Although anyone of us is responsible for their own learning, my support comes when and how it is needed to support students throughout their studies. Tutoring also involves preparing essays and group presentations. Constant and thorough feedback is also available.
