Hello, and thanks for taking a look at my profile.
I offer tutoring in English, French and Music, as well as being a professional musician. I have a BA in English and French, and a background in private tutoring, along with 20 years playing and singing in professional bands. I am passionate about communication and creativity, and equally passionate about building those qualities in others, whether for professional purposes or just for fun.
I am so lucky to have had the opportunity in my career to develop this approach. I look forward to sharing it with you, and to working with you to help you achieve your goals.
10 years' experience as a private guitar and music tutor.
1 year as an assistant d'anglais at a secondary school in Nontron, France.
Summer School and Holiday Camp work: educational, cultural and sporting activities with children of various ages and nationalities.
We all learn in different ways - everyone is unique! When I meet a new student, we first identify needs, establish goals and set about working towards them. This is particularly important if pursuing a specific objective (like passing an exam). However, it is also important to step out of what can be a pressurised situation and consider the individual student: what motivates them, inspires them, makes them tick - how do they go about learning? I begin with a blank piece of paper and no preconceptions.
I have consistently found that by treating students as individuals, treating them with decency and respect, and above all being receptive to how they naturally learn, they can achieve results far beyond their expectations. What is more, I believe that I can help them discover not just how to pass a particular exam, but a genuine and lasting enthusiasm for their chosen subject - and that is a valuable thing for them to carry forward in their lives!
