Information About David - Coalville tutor
This is how 2 referees rated David:
My name is David and I am a qualified science teacher, currently working at an inner-city school in the City of Leicester. I studied Biological Sciences at university with my passionate subjects being immunology and biotechnology. When I was younger (14-17) I was a competitive swimmer who competed at National level, additionally, I played rugby, badminton and water polo. Throughout university, I still took part in swimming and water polo (just not to the same level!). I also love dogs (luckily I have one myself!), gardening and gaming!
I am a qualified secondary science teacher, gaining my PGCE qualification through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. I am proficient in teaching all 3 science subjects (biology, chemistry & physics) from secondary (11-14) to GCSE (15-16) level; and biology to A level. Previous tutoring experience includes holding revision sessions for GCSE pupils while in sixth form, at university and during my day-to-day work at school.
My approach to tutoring is based on exam technique and developing a deeper understanding of the material in the syllabus. Each week I will set questions for the tutee to complete, we will go over the questions together and address any issues the tutee has with the content. Additionally the tutee should identify topics that they are not confident with and express these at the sessions. This allows me to tailor the sessions to what the tutee needs and not waste their time! I have a similar approach to teaching where pupils reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses to improve, however, this will be done on a much more personal level, and therefore, will be very effective!
