I am currently in my second year of a part-time PhD at Cardiff University studying ancient and medieval history. I have a BA in Ancient History and an MA in ancient and medieval warfare. I am also a qualified teacher having completed my PGCE at Cardiff University. I also have an A level in Classical Civilisation for which I achieved an A grade and an A Level in History, in which modules ranged from the War of the Roses to Nazi Germany and the Second World War.
I have taught at Ystrad Mynach college for a period of 6 months teaching both A level and Access courses. Within the context of my degree I have given many presentations to my fellows students. I have also led discussion of seminars at both BA and MA level. At Cardiff University, I take 6 undergraduate seminars in both history and Ancient history with particular focus on Greece and Rome.
I also teach AS and A2 Government and Politics as well as AS Religious Studies. In regards to Politics, I have taught both the American and British modules of both the Edexcel and WJEC exam boards. I have also taught the Political Ideologies content on the WJEC specification. I am happy to help with both course content and essay technique. In regards to Religious Studies, I have taught the modules on Ethical Theory and The arguments against the existence of God.
As every student learns in different ways, I have a flexible approach to tutoring. It is my belief however that the most benefit can be gained through an exchange of ideas between myself and my tutee. In Classical Civilisations especially, the highest grades are achieved by those who have their own views and so discussion is vital.
