I am an enthusiastic person with a passion for learning and engaging students. I especially love my subject and travelling as I believe this gives a different type of experience and education. I am a mother with a grown up daughter and as such I have passed through and supported a learner through the whole range of education.
I have 14 years of experience in my subject, having taught key stage 3 - 5 throughout this time. I have a proven track record of consistently high results, some the best of the schools I have worked in.
I have been Head of House, Gifted and talented co-ordinator and Head of Humanities and currently am a Lead Practitioner for geography which is a subject and whole school position to raise standards.
I prefer an approach to teaching that is fun and engages the learner- therefore I engage students by having 'hooks' and interesting openers, a variety of learning styles (visual, audio, kinaesthetic and active) and differentiated resources, to allow students of all abilities to make rapid progress. Students are encouraged to take an interest in the world around us and contemporary geographical issues - which lead to good discussions that allow in depth learning. Extended writing and/or exam resources allows students to practice and prepare for the external exams, which will be marked with quality feedback and allow the student to reflect then correct.
