This is how 2 referees rated Danielle:
I am a reliable, well-organised individual committed to the teaching profession. Currently, I am looking for opportunities to tutor in order to broaden my impact on young people's education. I am incredibly enthusiastic about what I do and I feel passionate about sharing my love of English (language and literature) with the next generation.
I am a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT), having just achieved Outstanding/Distinction in my PGCE from the University of Nottingham. However, I already have a year's experience working as a full-time English teacher as I am part of the **Contact Detail Removed** Leadership Development Programme, which places graduates into classrooms (with their own classes) from day one. This has given me extensive experience in planning, teaching and marking.
Furthermore, the nature of the school in which I teach has allowed me to gain experience working with pupils of a range of abilities from the ages of 11-15, including pupils learning English as an Additional Language and those with Special Educational Needs. With my year 10 class, I have been teaching the new AQA GCSE specification.
Although I am now a qualified teacher, the second year of the Leadership Development Programme, and my masters degree, will provide me with regular professional development opportunities to improve my practice.
In terms of existing teaching on a one-to-one basis, I have provided extra-tuition to one of my pupils this year. Also, I used to work in Spain as an Au Pair. Part of this role involved teaching English on an individual basis. I therefore feel confident in my ability to work with individuals (KS3 and 4) to build their confidence and secure academic progress.
Having engaged with a range of sessions offered by **Contact Detail Removed**'s outstanding training programme, I am equipped with a range of ideas to approach various aspects of English. This means that I am able to appeal to individual strengths and trial different methods to engage pupils and increase their attainment. I believe that a key part of raising attainment is regular feedback, both written and oral. These will inform personal, manageable targets to work towards in line with the chosen focus of the session. The timings of the one-to-one sessions would be negotiable depending on individual needs.
