Currently seeking 1 A level tutee for the academic year 2023/2024. I am most familiar with the AQA A Level chemistry curriculum, though I also have experience of tutoring the OCR A specification.

I am currently a chemistry teacher at a large comprehensive school teaching KS3 (all sciences), KS4 (chemistry) and KS5 (chemistry). I have been working as a qualified teacher since 2019 and privately tutoring since 2017.

Prior to this, in 2013 I graduated from The University of Sheffield with a First Class Masters in Chemistry. In the same year I began studying towards a PhD in organic chemistry and microscopy in the departments of chemistry and physics at The University of Sheffield. My PhD was awarded by the university in May 2018.

I consider myself to be friendly and approachable and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of science and helping others to solve problems.

Tutoring Experience

Prior to starting my teacher training I was a cover supervisor at Sheffield Springs Academy with a 50% science timetable (biology, chemistry and physics). I taught practical and theoretical chemistry at degree level during my PhD. I have had two tutees since I joined FirstTutors.

I am now a teacher at a large comprehensive school, where I teach KS3 (all sciences), KS4 (chemistry) and KS5 (chemistry).

Tutoring Approach

My usual approach is to assess the tutee's strengths and weaknesses (either by asking what they would like to work on, or by going through past papers) and spend time focussing on addressing any weaknesses that become apparent. I like to use a range of resources, including past paper questions, quiz sheets, and where possible, practical demonstration.

I have a proven track record of improving the grades of my tutees at both GCSE and A level in chemistry. Please get in touch for more detail, if required.
